Usually when a player goes into a tournament they have a game plan or a normal way of playing but after few matches without success, rather than stick to normal game plan the player goes into a tilt and starts doing things that they wouldn’t do under normal circumstances, he/she starts making aggressive bets, staying in the bet too long even when its risky, they loss all their self discipline and control and if they don’t stop they will find themselves seriously broke.
The main cause of a tilt is usually because of a bad beats , players can become overwhelmed by losses especially if they expected to win at that hand and suffer from emotional strain and this can over power the players reasoning and logic because in the players mind they see all their plans and poker strategies that they used to build up there chip stack being destroyed and since their human the natural response will be to try and get even quickly and win back their money quickly ,this will result in players betting hands they would otherwise have folded .
The only solution to avoiding the tilt is discipline, you need discipline if you are going to stick to your original game plan even when you are losing, but discipline in the long run pays off. some players and professionals believe that you can avoid the tilt by pausing for a few minutes take deep breathes recollect your thoughts and count to ten before proceeding you should take as long as it takes to clear your mind time is not an issue you should be worried about . you should always have a plan B ,an emergency exit plan to help you to stop playing at the first sign of danger you should always be prepared to stand up and walk away as soon as you start losing the big hands and don’t tempted into another game in the hope of winning .
You have to realize that gambling is about luck so you are going to lose some and win some so just know that losing is inevitable, and the only real way to avoid the tilt is to get used to it.
